Wondering what happens when Mercury comes out retrograde & stations direct? Here’s a quick guide.
Mercury In Retrograde
Mercury is the planet of communication, intellect, and quick thinking. This impactful planet also influences trade, travel, and technology. In astrology, it represents the mind and how we share our thoughts. Around three or four times a year, the planet travels backwards causing conflict and challenges in these areas. You can start feeling effects of this two weeks before “pre-shadow”, during the actual retrograde lasting three weeks, and then two weeks after the event “post-shadow”. Some astrologers believe the pre-shadow and post-shadow phases are impacted more then the actual retrograde period.
Mercury In Direct
When Mercury finishes it’s backwards tour, the stationing is called “direct” as Mercury is moving forward again. When Mercury goes direct it signifies an energetic shift. A return of clearer communication & clearer thinking. A sense of relief is felt as the challenges and misunderstandings during that period begin to dissipate. This period brings a fresh perspective and a more straightforward flow of information. This reduces the likelihood of communication breakdowns and technology issues, as well as plan derailments.
What To Do During This Period
During the direct stationing of Mercury this is a period more conductive to plan making, starting new projects, and moving forward with any decision making. It’s a good time to forgive ourselves for any mistakes made during retrograde. We should be celebrating our accomplishments, reflecting on any lessons learned. Now that communication is easier it is a good time to engage in important conversations. Being that Mercury is not only the planet of communication but also intellect and quick thinking; we should be using this energy to organize our homes, lives, goals, and thoughts.
Thank you so much for covering this. I’m going to be seeing a lot of loved ones so it’s important to keep all this in mind.
Thank you for sharing. I spaced we were even in retrograde. The past couple of weeks have been horrific. I’m looking forward to being able to breathe again.
